MediaRSS? Indeed!

rss-sphere I installed the MediaRSS WordPress plugin today.  Hopefully that will mean that the picture that I included will show up in FriendFeed and other places that support Media RSS extensions.

Media RSS extensions allow one to describe different types of media, such as embedded music and video clips, directly in an RSS stream.  These extensions are technically optional, so traditional RSS parsers can safely ignore them.

    Yay, it works!

Congrats. I really need to get this going for my blogs. Like Rod Stewart said…perhaps tonight's the night.

One of the many unsung things that have come out of Yahoo! http://search.yahoo.com/mrss

It is super-easy, Mark. It looks like Andy updated the mrss plugin on WordPress.com to be FriendFeed-friendly, all you need to do is grab it and drop it in your wordpress plugins directory, then activate it. At least, that's all I did. The link is in my article.

Glen – D'oh. I was going to mention that in my article, since Wikipedia mentions that too.. but I forgot. Ah well, I was in a hurry to see if the plugin actually worked here on FF.

    Phil's right- super easy

Phil, awesome! I spent some time the other night unsuccessfully getting it going even with the great help from Daniel Pritchett here http://friendfeed.com/e/ed5b87.....c6e… sounds like things are finally ironed out. Will definitely try it tonight then!

Mine doesn't work for some reason – I think Google Feedburner is filtering out the MediaRSS or something similar.

  • http://friendfeed.com/eng1ne Phil Glockner For Hire

Jesse – weird. I'm using Feedburner and all I did was write a post, ping my feed, and refresh here on FF. Question: Do you have “smartcast” enabled for your feed? I currently have that turned off. (all the other bells and whistles are on)

@Phil – nice to see Andy publishing an update! Sweet! I'll update my post (as linked by Mark) with this new information.

Daniel, IMO Andy is all about the WP community! Besides, he lives 40 miles away from me, and he's my friend. If he overlooked us FFers, I'd definitely 'remind' him. ;)
